from the City of Naples

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in partnership with the non-Federal Sponsor, Collier County, Florida, invite the public to attend upcoming public information meetings for the Collier County Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study. The purpose of the study is to identify and evaluate measures formulated to manage the risk of coastal storm surge flooding to residents, industries, businesses, and infrastructure in Collier County and connecting municipalities including City of Naples and City of Marco Island. The feasibility study aims to analyze and ultimately recommend potential solutions that not only manage coastal storm risk to the Collier County community, but also improve coastal resiliency by managing storm surge-related risks to human life, health, and safety.

USACE plans to reformulate and reevaluate project alternatives, reassess potential environmental impacts, and prepare an updated Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) that documents these findings. The comments received from the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) public scoping meetings as well as the stakeholder feedback from the Planning Charrette held in April 2023 are being considered as the foundation for the new initial array of alternatives that will be presented.

The meetings will be held at the following dates, times, and locations:

Meeting 1: Wednesday, June 21, 2023, from 5-7 P.M. in the first floor Community Room at Marco Island Police Building, 51 Bald Eagle Drive, Marco Island, Florida 34145. Doors will open to the public at 4 P.M. The meeting will be broadcast locally on Comcast channel 98 and Summit Broadband (formerly Marco Island Cable) channel 98. The meeting will also be broadcast live at Marco Island TV Online and, beginning on the following day, on demand at Marco Island TV in the “2023”, “Other Videos” section.

Meeting 2: Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 10 A.M. – 12 P.M. in the large conference room at the South Regional Library, 8065 Lely Cultural Parkway, Naples, Florida, 34113. Doors will open to the public at 9 A.M. The meeting will also be provided virtually via the following Collier County Zoom link.

Meeting 3: Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 5 – 7 P.M. at the Naples Regional Library, 650 Central Ave, Naples, Florida, 34102. Doors will open to the public at 4 P.M.

Each meeting will begin with a brief presentation followed by an open-house-style forum where attendees are encouraged to view informational poster boards, engage with the project team, and submit formal comments. All three meetings will present the same content and are completely free to attend; no prior registration for in-person attendance is necessary.
