The third annual GSAC Water Quality Forum was held on February 25, 2025. Attendance hit a new record with over 300 residents and community leaders from across the city and county participating.

City Councilman Ray Christman again served as moderator. This year’s theme was “Building Naples Coastal Resiliency.” Ray led off the forum by outlining the issues we are facing and the challenges going forward.

Brett Moore, of Humiston & Moore Engineers in Naples, led off the panel discussion. His presentation focused on lessons learned from recent hurricanes and the importance of wide beaches and dunes for resiliency.

He was followed by Chad Washburn of the Naples Botanical Gardens who discussed work they are doing and the role of proper plants and planting methods in protecting dunes and the shoreline.

Jenna Phillips, of Cummins Cederberg Coastal and Marine Engineering in Tampa, talked about the resiliency projects her firm is doing across the state of Florida using “out of the box” approaches.

Without a doubt, this year’s Water Quality Forum was the best to date. GSAC looks forward to continuing the tradition of educating, communicating, and advocating for Water Quality Issues and Solutions.

Thanks again to Ray Christman, Brett, Chad, Jenna the Naples United Church of Christ, and most importantly to those who attended, for making the GSAC Water Quality Forum a huge success.

See you in 2026.
