What are these concrete structures?

The three concrete bases (plinths) that have recently been placed near 4400 GSBN form the foundation for a wonderful commissioned sculpture by the nationally recognized artist Herb Babcock that will be installed in the months ahead. Following a dedication in the fall, the sculpture will be donated to the City of Naples for its public art collection

This sculpture, named “Traveler” is made possible through the generosity of over 300 residents of Park Shore who contributed to the Park Shore Fund during the last 2 years.

The Park Shore Fund is a fund of the Collier Community Foundation. It was formed in 2013 by a group of residents who had a vision to continually elevate the ambiance and beauty of the Park Shore neighborhood with enhanced public “right of way” landscaping and public art. The work is funded with tax-deductible donations.

Through the work of the Park Shore Fund leadership team, and over 1600 contributions, mahogany street trees were added to Crayton Road, the intersection of Park Shore Drive and Crayton Road was surrounded with Coconut Palms, and plants and shrubs were added at other key Park Shore intersections.

In addition to landscaping enhancements, “Taking Flight” a Great Blue Herons sculpture by David Turner was installed in 2024 at the corner of Park Shore Drive and US41.

In 2025, a sculpture by Raymond Lutgert, the developer of Park Shore, was added to GSBN along Venetian Bay.

Looking ahead, in the planning stage is the Park Shore Funds next project, another significant public art installation on GSBN that will add to the vision of an “art walk along the bay” for all to enjoy.
