(May 19, 2023, from City of Naples) – Collier County’s Emergency Berm Project will be wrapping up at Park Shore and moving to 17th Avenue South starting this Monday, May 22nd.
Dump trucks hauling sand to the beach will be coming in on Golden Gate Parkway, south on US 41, and continue south on 9th Street to Broad Avenue, turning south onto Gordon Drive to 17th Avenue South to the beach. The trucks will go back to I-75 using the same route.
Bicyclists, joggers, and pedestrians are cautioned to be aware of the heavy truck traffic and if possible, use other routes during construction. The southbound parking area and bike lane on Gordon Drive between 16th and 17th Avenue South will be closed for the staging of trucks as they travel toward the beach. Special care should be taken at the 17th Avenue S / Gulf Shore Boulevard intersection, where trucks will be entering and leaving the 17th Avenue beach access.
Hauling is scheduled to start around Monday, May 22nd, and last till the first or second week in June. The plan forward is to move to 33rd Avenue South after work is completed at 17th Avenue South, so the US 41 to 9th St. – Broad Ave. to Gordon Drive route will still be used for the hauling. The 17th Avenue S haul route map is shown below.
