Members of your GSAC Board recently met with members of the City of Naples Parks Recreation and Facilities Department. We walked Gulf Shore Boulevard together in an effort to put together a plan to complete the landscape restoration required due to Hurricane Ian damage.
The center medians were completed last summer by city staff. This was done during the rainy season to ensure they received plenty of water, they look terrific.
The east medians located along the Bay north of Park Shore Drive to the Seagate Beach Access remained untouched and in need of repair, our charge was to get a commitment from the city staff to complete restoration and replanting of this area.

City Staff agreed something needed to be done and the next business day began the removal of the dead and damaged shrubs and then applied a layer of mulch. The area looks so much better as you can see in the before and after photos.
The irrigation system where damaged will be repaired over the next few months and on or about May 1 replanting of the medians will begin.
Additionally there were several Black Olive trees destroyed in the storm that will also be replaced.
